This Privacy Policy explains how VPN-for-Streaming.com (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the Site”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit our website at https://vpn-for-streaming.com or interact with our content. The Site is an independent VPN review and comparison resource focused on streaming use cases, operated as a personal project by Denis Milchevskiy. We are reader-supported through affiliate partnerships disclosed on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
We have written this policy in plain language because privacy is the topic our readers come to us for in the first place. If anything below is unclear, contact us at contact@vpn-for-streaming.com and we will explain it.
This policy applies only to information we collect on this website. It does not apply to information collected by VPN providers we link to, by advertising networks we work with, or by any other third party — those parties have their own privacy policies, and we link to them where relevant.
We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically when you browse the site, and information received from third parties.
If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your first name. If you email us or submit a contact form, we collect your email address, your message, and any information you choose to include in that message. If you leave a comment on an article (where comments are enabled), we collect your name or chosen username, your email address (not displayed publicly), your comment text, and your IP address at the moment of submission for spam prevention.
We do not require account registration to read content on this site. We do not collect payment information from readers because we do not sell anything directly — purchases of VPN subscriptions happen on the VPN provider’s own website, governed by their own privacy policy.
When you visit the Site, our servers and analytics tools automatically receive standard log information, including your IP address (truncated or anonymized where technically possible), browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, the pages you view on our site, the date and time of each visit, the time spent on each page, and approximate geographic location derived from your IP address (typically city or region level, not precise location).
We use cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels, web beacons) to operate the site, remember your preferences, measure traffic and content performance, and track affiliate referrals. A detailed breakdown is in the Cookies section below.
When you click an affiliate link on our site and complete a purchase on a VPN provider’s website, the affiliate network (such as Impact, CJ Affiliate, Awin, or the provider’s in-house program) reports back to us that a referral was successful. This report typically includes a transaction identifier, the date, the product purchased, and the commission amount. It does not include your name, email, IP address, payment details, or any other personally identifiable information about you.
If you interact with our pages through embedded social features (for example, a YouTube video embedded on a review page), those platforms may share aggregated information with us according to their own policies.
We use the information described above to deliver the website to you (loading pages, serving images, routing requests through our content delivery network), to measure how readers find and use our content so we can improve our reviews and guides, to track affiliate referrals so the correct provider attributes a sale to us and pays the corresponding commission, to send you our newsletter if you have subscribed (with an unsubscribe link in every email), to respond to your messages, to detect and prevent spam, abuse, scraping, and security incidents, and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not “share” your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as that term is defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, except to the limited extent described in the Cookies section below — and you can opt out of any such sharing.
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies in the following categories.
Strictly necessary cookies keep the site functional. These remember your cookie consent choice, maintain session continuity, and protect against abuse. The site cannot work properly without them, and they are not used for tracking.
Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics 4 (or, where applicable, by privacy-focused alternatives such as Plausible or Fathom) to help us understand which articles are read, how long readers stay, and which links they click. We have configured Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled and have disabled data sharing with Google for advertising purposes. Where required by law, these cookies are loaded only after you consent.
Affiliate tracking cookies are set by the VPN providers’ affiliate networks when you click an outbound link to a provider. These cookies record that you arrived at the provider through our site, which is how we earn a commission if you subscribe. The providers and their affiliate networks set these cookies on their own domains, not ours. They typically expire between 30 and 90 days after the click. The major networks involved include Impact, CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction), Awin, Rakuten Advertising, and the providers’ own programs (NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, Proton VPN, CyberGhost, IPVanish, Windscribe).
Advertising cookies may be set if we run remarketing campaigns through Google Ads or similar platforms. These help us measure the effectiveness of our outreach. Where required by law, these cookies are loaded only after you consent and you can opt out at any time.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block cookies, delete existing cookies, or notify you before a cookie is set. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site. Blocking affiliate cookies will not affect your reading experience but will mean a click from our site is not attributed back to us. Where we display a cookie consent banner, you can change your preferences at any time by clicking the “Cookie Settings” link in our footer.
The Site honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under California law and equivalent state laws.
We share information only in the limited circumstances described below.
With service providers who help us run the website. This includes our hosting provider, our content delivery network, our email service provider for the newsletter (such as Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or Beehiiv), our analytics provider, and our spam-protection provider. These vendors process information on our behalf under contracts that restrict their use of the data to providing the contracted service.
With affiliate networks when you click an outbound affiliate link. The act of clicking transfers you to the affiliate network’s domain, which then redirects you to the VPN provider. The network sees your IP address, browser information, and the click event — this is how affiliate attribution works across the industry. We do not pass your name, email, or any account information to these networks.
For legal reasons, where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal obligation, to enforce our Terms of Use, to protect the rights, property, or safety of our readers or others, or to investigate fraud or security incidents.
In a business transfer, if VPN-for-Streaming.com or its assets are acquired by or merged with another entity, information held by us may transfer to the successor. We will notify readers and update this policy if such a change occurs.
We do not sell personal information to data brokers. We do not rent reader email lists. We do not provide reader information to VPN providers we review.
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information. We extend the rights described below to all readers worldwide, regardless of jurisdiction, as a matter of policy.
Right to know. You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and information about how we have used and shared it.
Right to delete. You can request that we delete personal information we hold about you. We will honor the request unless we are required to retain the information by law (for example, transaction logs needed for tax compliance).
Right to correct. You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
Right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing.” Under California law (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. To the extent that the use of analytics or advertising cookies could be considered “sharing” under California law, you can opt out by adjusting your cookie preferences via the “Cookie Settings” link in our footer or by enabling the Global Privacy Control in your browser.
Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised any of these rights.
Right to withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent (for example, to send you our newsletter or to set non-essential cookies), you can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@vpn-for-streaming.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will respond within 45 days as required by California law, with a possible 45-day extension if reasonably necessary, and we will tell you if more time is needed. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests, typically by confirming control of the email address associated with the information.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. Note that this Site primarily serves a U.S. audience, but our practices are designed to be respectful of privacy regardless of where you read from.
We keep different categories of information for different periods.
Server logs and analytics data are retained for up to 14 months in identifiable form, then aggregated or deleted. Newsletter subscription records are kept until you unsubscribe, after which we keep a suppression entry (your email in a do-not-contact list) so we do not accidentally email you again. Contact form messages and direct emails are kept for up to 24 months after our last interaction with you, then deleted unless we have an ongoing reason to retain them. Comment information is kept as long as the comment is published on the Site; you can request deletion at any time. Affiliate transaction reports (which do not contain your personal information) are kept for as long as required by tax and accounting rules in our jurisdiction, typically up to seven years.
When the retention period ends, we delete the information or anonymize it so it can no longer be linked to you.
We protect information using industry-standard measures appropriate to the sensitivity of what we hold. The Site is served over HTTPS with modern TLS encryption. Administrative access to the content management system requires strong passwords and two-factor authentication. Vendor access is limited to what each vendor needs to perform its function. Software is patched and updated regularly.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected readers and authorities as required by law if a breach involving personal information occurs.
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it. For readers between 13 and 17, parental supervision is encouraged.
The Site is operated as a personal project by an independent publisher, and information collected through it is processed in accordance with this policy regardless of where you visit from. The Site primarily serves a U.S. audience, and our hosting and content delivery infrastructure is located in the United States. If you are visiting from another country, please be aware that the data protection laws of the United States may differ from those of your country. By using the Site, you consent to the transfer of your information to and processing in the United States, subject to the protections described in this policy.
Our reviews and guides link extensively to VPN providers, software vendors, news articles, and other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. When you click a link and leave VPN-for-Streaming.com, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. Read the destination site’s privacy policy before providing personal information.
Some of our pages embed content from third parties (such as YouTube videos, Twitter posts, or comparison widgets). These embeds may set their own cookies and collect information about your interaction. Where possible, we use privacy-friendly embed modes (for example, YouTube’s no-cookie domain youtube-nocookie.com).
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no industry consensus on how to interpret DNT, so we do not respond to it specifically. We do, however, honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which is more clearly defined under California law, as described in the Cookies section.
This section provides additional information for California residents as required by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (IP address, email address if you subscribe or contact us, online identifiers from cookies), internet or other electronic network activity (browsing history on our site, interactions with our content), geolocation data (approximate location derived from IP), and inferences drawn from the above (which content categories interest you).
We collect this information from you directly when you submit it, automatically when you browse the Site, and from analytics and affiliate-network partners as described above. We use it for the purposes listed in the “How We Use Information” section.
We disclose these categories to the categories of recipients listed in the “How We Share Information” section: service providers, affiliate networks (when you click their links), and legal or governmental recipients where required.
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We may “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the limited sense that analytics and remarketing cookies (where used) involve transfer of online identifiers to advertising platforms. You can opt out at any time via the “Cookie Settings” link in our footer or by enabling Global Privacy Control.
We do not knowingly collect or process the personal information of consumers under 16 for the purpose of selling or sharing.
You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. The agent must provide proof of authorization, and we may still ask you to verify your identity directly.
To submit a CCPA/CPRA request, email contact@vpn-for-streaming.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request.”
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, in technology, or in applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify newsletter subscribers by email. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Earlier versions of this policy are available on request.
